The checking rook can't be captured, the White king can't move out of check, and no White piece can block the rook's check. It's mate.

Then there's a display bug because there was no piece on e3 (the knight was missing) when I encountered the problem. Ugh.

Hi Silent Hound,

Which browser and operating system are you using (and which version of both)?

Thanks,
Richard.

Hi Richard, thanks for the attention!

I'm on Safari 3.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.4.

When I first encountered the problem there was a missing piece (knight on e3) and then when I took a look again after a couple days and newlook and argentum pointed it out, the knight was there.  Undecided

Ok thanks Silent Hound, this is the first report of such an issue on Safari, is this the only time you've noticed the issue (if it was happening often I'd expect you to be seeing lots of problems that don't make sense).

Was this the first or second problem of the session (if you remember)? Sometimes if the piece image failed to download the first time either your browser or ISP's proxy can fail to serve up the image which might be why it was missing the first time, but you saw it later.

Regards,
Richard.

Hi Richard,

Hmm IIRC it wasn't the first or second; in fact I think I've been playing quite a number of problems before I encountered 15118. I can't check now since it seems to have fallen off my stats.

I'm not sure of other cases; there have been a couple positions or so that seemed a bit fishy but after I thought about them they made some sense. There weren't any cases that were as glaring as the case in 15118.

In any case, I'll keep an eye out; thanks for keeping on top of this, Richard!

Cheers
