This problem is a mate in one with 1.Qf7+. I picked 1.Qxf5+ and it was an allowed alternate. Funny thing is, 1.Qxf5+ is mate in 5, while 1.Qh6+ is mate in 3 and is NOT an allowed alternate! The 1.Qxf5+ line doesn't win big material, only one pawn.

That is an interesting one. There is a bug there in the material calculator in that there was material exchanged (a queen take at the end), but obviously material taken on the same move as the actual mate it not really relevant, but clearly I'm not checking for that case here! I'll fix this for the next generator verification run (I could probably do this without a new run , but it is easier to fix on a run and for now I'm not classifying "over generous" alternatives as high priority bugs [which isn't to say I don't want to fix them, just that they can wait a bit]).
