I missed the mate in 2, probably just being  lazy.  It's so obvious too.  I think I'm just getting tired.  My line is a very easy win, but not a forced mate.

I'm probably whining because I broke my streak of 68 correct problems in  a row.  Time to start a new streak.

If it makes you feel any better, toga thinks your line is mate in 12 :-) (which is the problem I've talked about in other threads, the material winning alternative filter for mates doesn't kick in when the alternatives are also mates).

Richard.

Yes, I kept thinking about this problem all week in the back of my mind.  A day or two later I realized that it ends up being a forced mate, with the king walking over to  finish things.  Obviously, I didn't work out very much detail when I originally did the problem, I simply saw that I had a substantial advantage and also overlooked the mate in 2.  Live and learn I guess.

Hi Slacker00,

I'm experimenting with an improvemed generator and you might be interested to know that I've been using this position as on of several test cases and while I still accept this position, the generator also now allows two alternative moves on the first move , your move Rxg5 but also fxg5.

Regards,
Richard.

The problem isn't that tough.  I just overlooked the mate in 2.  I think  I originally posted it because I was just tired and it ended my  streak.  I  did find a move that easily  wins, but nothing beats the mate in 2, for simplicity sake.
