I wonder what cause hanging piece to be ranked so high.
I admit that it took me significant time  to see that I can capture the bishop(motr than  a minute not considering time of checking the solution)
but I did not come close to thinking 93 minutes for the problem as one of the solvers did based on the comments and on his history(I looked at the history because I thought maybe he meant 93 seconds because 93 minutes is a lot of time even in my standards).

At this point, I'll bet the fact that it's a hanging piece problem actually makes it harder! Beyond a certain rating level, the obvious capture fails much more often than it succeeds.

I got the same problem yesterday. Looking at the stats, I see that I spent 10 minutes on it. I assumed that it was a high-rated problem, so I felt there had to be more to it. I spent several minutes calculating all kinds of crazy lines, and then I spent more time looking for the hidden disaster that would hit me after I took the bishop. Finally, I gave up and took the bishop.

It made me think that drawing from a wider range of problems might be useful -- it would keep me on my toes.

Hi Uri, Abend,

I often wonder that too sometimes- how a straightforward problem can be high rated.  Not as often, I wonder somtimes how a difficult problem does not have a higher rating (my guess is luck, a lot of users must click the first move without having found the complete sequence that follows).

That happens to me also, Abend. I just had a 1600 rated problem out no where and for some reason it took me a long time to solve as well. I think you explained it well- I spent a lot of time looking for more complex variations, and after having found nothing, I went for the straight-forward answer.
