Problem 39939

After 1. Qxc5+ Kd7, shouldn't 2. Bxe6+ get the "Look for a better move" flag? 2... fxe6 3. Qxc3 Bxc3 4. Rxd2+ Bxd2 5. Rd1 e5 6. Rxd2+ appears to win easily enough. Crafty 22.0 2.4GHz evaluates the line as +2.84 at depth 16. White's pawns are connected, not to mention there are more of them :-)
(No question that the text 2. Rc1 is strongest; Crafty gives it +4.96.)

Hi revenant,
2. Bxe6+ was just under the threshold required to trigger an alternative. Toga gave is around +2.5. The new generator has a much more generous alternative threshold allowing anything better than +1.75 and I'm just about to start running this generator over the current problem set. It looks like this problem may be discarded by the new generator as it's 4 best moves are all over this threshold.
Regards,
Richard.
