having quit yesterday on the high note of solving a 2000 rated problem and reaching a new high, i started today losing 10 points so fast i was appropriately humiliated again .. i swallowed my cowboy pride and remembered to SLOW DOWN and focus on really seeing a solution .. that approach has really helped me and i'm proud to report i was net +10 by the end of the session, another high at 1560!
while i blew away two hours on only 18 problems, the process of visualizing the board, studying and often commenting on the ones i miss, occasionally analyzing with Fritz, considering tags, etc., has me feeling comfortable about my learning curve for the first time since i've begun re-learning the game only a month ago today
of course, i've had similar days where i've worked hundreds of problems .. there does seem to be a very real point of diminishing returns, but it can be a fun way to wile away a few hours .. i remember one sleepless night at CTS when my eyes were bloodshot for two days afterwards .. i try to avoid nights like that these days, the hangover can be severe
