Although the 43/43 start is special, it is not a record: http://chesstempo.com/chess-statistics/gmmigge (see page 2) The common thing between those two is stopping before the major update that was made in May and coming back a few months later. Obviously the rating system for blitz was very different back then (I don't think that standard ratings changed dramatically) and a few people got to 2800-3200 (one even mentioned 4000!) whereas today they would find it hard to get to 2400. No offense, but similarly if this user would ever try another problem in blitz you would likely see this instant drop record shattered again.

(gaping at the blitz rating graph) Ouch. Poor guy had the rug pulled out from under him. Looks like he got right back up on his feet, though. Good attitude.

The moral of the story is when you have been gone for a while, be very careful on the first few problems because the rating changes will be very big. When your RD gets down to 80 (as shown in Stats) then you can be sloppy again

When your RD gets down to 80 (as shown in Stats) then you can be sloppy again Watch out - Drahacik's definition of sloppy is: "Dwell on a problem only 30 minutes instead of 60, go through all possible variations only twice rather than six times, and sit on your hands 10 minutes instead of 30 before moving". "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways", Drahacik said...

Hey, my last standard problem was 6 minutes and the one before that less than 5 minutes. I'm getting very reckless and sloppy now!

Sorry for the delay, I just got back from helping to perform a separate exorcism across town. Someone's old VW Beetle was possessed by the spirit of the late Supreme Court justice Felix Frankfurter and the vehicle kept trying to render opinions in previously resolved cases such as Bush vs. Gore by honking its horn (an exercise in futility). It was also signing autographs as "Herbie" which passersby found suspicious, but it's all better now.
On close examination of Draha's rating graphs it appears that Andreacoda's initial impression was misguided, to wit: an exorcism seems to have been *already performed* by parties unknown two days ago and Draha is now as reckless and sloppy as he was naturally meant to be. Further exorcism would be useless as there is (at present) no evil spirit in residence at whom to direct the creed of banishment.
We must watch his graphs carefully and if they shoot back up again (e.g. with strings of 20+ correct Standard Rated problems in a row) that will be a sign that he has been re-possessed (or "repo'd" in paranormal lingo) and then we can set about the necessary ritual ("The power of Morphy compels you! The power of Morphy compels you!" while holding up a king in front of his face, etc.)
