I got rating above 2200 at standard today(2200.3).

It seems that I always use more than the average time in the last problems and
I probably broke a new record in the last problem when I used 1636 seconds.

The problem that had rating that is above 2200 now has rating that is below 2200.

Congrats and congrats to me for the 2400  Wink

1636 seconds is far from the record, Xtruder, Drahacik and me have often much more.
Especially when I could not find a solution, I did a multitude of things in-between, including phoning, reading e-mails, going to the toilet, eating, showering etc.; sometimes it helped to return with a fresh mind.
Besides those interruptions, I give myself an invisible limit from 20-25 minutes for the most complex ones, comparing to what is usually available in key situations of a tournament game.

Good luck for the 2300  Cheesy - Milly

Milly is a cat  Cool

So, my newest achievement, exactly matching Blitz and Standard ratings.

Not me - don't even know what blitz is! Slow slow slow, is my mantra...  Tongue

Often if your Blitz rating plummets it means you've been playing it too much like Standard.  Conversely if your Standard rating plummets it means you've been playing it too much like Blitz.  So, maybe to get both those numbers the same is quite an achievement... like folding an iron bar in half  :-)

Congratulations.  (:  I've sometimes started a problem, got interrupted by something and couldn't get back to the computer until the next day.  Hopefully these outliers are excluded when counting the average time taken.

Hi Dougy,

They are , longer than 5 minute attempts are truncated (I think I might have mentioned 500 seconds on the site feedback forum, but that is because I have trouble multiplying :-)  ).  You've probably been lucky to miss (on the feedback forum) the extensive recent discussions on median versus average for measuring the central tendency of time taken. :-)

Regards,
Richard.

Nice to see milly is back on the Top-10 Standard list after a plunge into the darkness a couple days ago!  Did you let your cat use your account?  Smiley

Steve Martin knows the solution for that -- cat handcuffs!!   (near end of routine -- search on "cat")

On the other hand... er, paw...  Maybe it was the *cat* who got the high rating and the human was the one who was abusing the account.

No matter which, no fear.  A chess player is like a rubber ducky in the bathtub.  Push him down as far down in the water as you want, he will always float back up to the surface.

I did it yesterday (okay, 0.2 points difference), and kept myself in both top 10 lists doing so (like yourself, if you were active at the time of writing).
Meanwhile my standard rating has for the first time (and surely not the last) climbed over the blitz one.
