Hi there - just wanted to say it would be great if you could get an e-mail when someone leaves a comment on a problem you've commented on.

Cheers,

MrPowell

PS. Great site Smiley

Hi MrPowell,

Good suggestion, I've added this to the todo list (although it's a fair way down the list).  In the shorter term I'm planning to add a more convenient way of seeing recent comments and a per user comments list.

Regards,
Richard.

Cheers Smiley

Another thing on my wishlist is a way of seeing how many problems I've attempted and how many I've passed.

Also I've noticed the comments will sometimes give the game away too.

Once again though it is a great site and has definately helped me improve my game.

Hi again,

You can see your overall problems attempted and your success rate by following the Stats tab at the top of the page, is that what you had in mind or are you referring to something else?

I agree with the comments often giving the game away. I've already written the code to have comments, tags, star rating and problem rating all hidden until after the problem is complete, so the next UI update will have this change. I have a few other UI changes I'm working on so it will likely be a few more weeks until I'm ready to upload.

It's nice to hear ChessTempo has improved your game :-)

Regards,
Richard.

Thanks - the stats page is exactly what I was talking about, don't know how I missed it.  I was especially pleased with the plotted graph of the users (my!) progress.

Nice to hear about the comments etc. being hidden too.  I must admit that the rating is the first thing I check normally so I know what kind of problem I'm solving.  Should be interesting to see how it affects my play.

The next UI update will also allow you to look further back through your recent problems instead of just the last 50 as displayed at the moment.

I think the new approach will much more closely match over the board conditions, so hopefully it will help tactics training map more effectively to in game improvement.  I'd expect a bit of a drop in success rates for the same difficulty of problem, however this will likely be offset by a slightly easier overall problem set in the next problem set update (due to many of the much longer mates having been culled due to a much harsher ambiguity filter).

Richard.

One suggestion  I have, is if you'd like to discuss a specific problem, post it in the "Chess Problems" section of the forum.  That's a better way to get discussion going, and probably get a faster response also.

Unfortunately up to now that has been the best thing to do.

Tonight I  implemented a "recent comment" display which will be available after the next update (probably still over a week away due to more testing required, but should definitely be less than 2 weeks). Whilst not as nice as direct notification is does allow a relatively convenient way of seeing new comments as they are added.

Richard.
