Hi Richard,

What a great website is this. Because it is so great I am having some questions and hopefully you can answer them.

At the moment I am working on a website for a chessclub. Because most of the members are 60+ years I need a very userfriendly non technical solution for posting PGN files which are playable after posting.

Your PGN viewer can be just the program I need. I will try to make it work within Drupal CMS which must be possible with your program since it seems that you can adjust it according to you own liking.

So after concluding that I would like to give it a try I started searching for the code. It appears that I am not able to download it. Are you willing to make the code available, which I would appreciate because my solution will otherwise depend on your website over which I have no control.

In addition, I came across your Tactics solving page which is just great. And therefore it would be even more great to have it imbedded within the Drupal CMS chessclub website I am developing. Users then only have to loggon with theire chessclub account and can start solving.

Summarizing I would like to know if the code can be made available such that I can install the needed files on the chessclub server -of course you name will be all over the place Wink -. and in addition, do you see possibilities for imbedding you Tactics solving page into another site?

Hi Semmie,

You can currently embed the PGN viewer in your own page following the instructions here:
http://chesstempo.com/pgn-usage.html

Unfortunately the "load PGN from file" feature has an issue when the javascript is not hosted on your  site (the instructions only show how to use the javascript files located on chesstempo.com).  However you can work around this by embedding the PGN directly into the page instead of retrieving it from a file.

At the moment I don't have any plans to enable embedding the tactics solving page in other web sites.

Regards,
Richard.

Thanks for answering although one question remains. As you explained you can embed your software in any page which is explained on the page you provided. What I ment was, by doing so the viewer depend on your site since the scripts refer to javascriptfiles on chesstempo.com. This will mean that I do not have any control over the availability of PGN viewer other then linking to the scripts on your site.

By placing the javascriptfiles on the server that is hosting the chessclub website will give me more control and appearantly will give ability to load PNG's from a file on the chessclub server.

So is it possible to download all the javascriptfiles and css file?

Yes that should be possible, although the javascript will still attempt to download the piece images from chesstempo.com

Richard.

If so, are you then willing to release your scripts including images so that it can be installed on any server?

Hi Semmie,

I'll consider putting together a more convenient distribution in the future.  Unfortunately I don't have time to do that right now, so if you want to use the viewer right now, you'll have to use it in its current form.

Regards,
Richard.
