An interesting idea to generate more problems, given a chess game, is not only analyze the positions arised in the game, but also other possible moves and their refutations.

Given that the players usually do the best moves, a lot of interesing tactics are hidden in the possible variations. If the program could analyze this "bad" moves, it would find the refutations and generate a lot of more problems per game.

Hope you find it useful.

Best regards.

Hi mrcm,

This is an interesting suggestion.  I think it might be hard to generate "good" bad moves. For each position there would be a set of bad moves that not even a complete beginner would play, Having the computer make sure it doesn't choose those types of "bad" moves would probably be quite tricky.  I have plenty of games still to process but I'll certainly consider this approach when I've run out of games using the current method.

Regards,
Richard.
