Is it possible to upgrade membership to gold? Some new interesting features are aded but what about persons who decided for silver membership? They made decision based on features available at this moment.

Hi Palemon,

I'm looking into ways of doing this, unfortunately paypal is not as flexible as I'd hoped in this department. Ideally I'd like an upgrade option which allows a user to pay the difference between silver and gold. Unfortunately it seems that paypal only supports upgrades where the user pays for a full gold and their membership is extended on by a year past where their silver would have expired.  I'm trying to work out a way around this.

Regards,
Richard.

Hi Palemon,

Unfortunately for now , your only option is to cancel your silver membership and then signup for a gold membership, this should be the manual equivalent of what the paypal "upgrade" option provides. You should end up with a gold membership that extends for nearly 2 years (less a month or so).  It is possible I might have to manually tweak the membership database to get the gold level to kick in immediately, send me an email if you try the cancel/signup and it doesn't work as I described and I'll fix things manually.

This isn't really ideal but without dumping papal altogether there is not that much more that can be done (other that explicitly providing the paypal upgrade option which really only cuts out one of the above steps (cancellation), and still requires you to pay for a full upgrade membership (although you will still get the benefit of the upgrade for the full period of both memberships)).

Regards,
Richard.
