Hi Richard.

Excuse my bad english, I'm not fluent. Wink

First of all, congratulations, this site is wonderful, certainly not matched anywhere on the internet. Visually, its very nice, and content is great.
Rating systems are always difficult to build, and some results are strange indeed (but I won't complain 'cause I broke 2800  Grin )

In fact, the site is so nice and professional that I wonder if it will remain free for long. Can you tell a little more about that please ?

Best,
GaƩtan.

Excuse my bad english, I'm not fluent. Wink

I'm always jealous when people say that, as I wallow hopelessly  in mono-lingualism.  I'm especially jealous when their English is as good as yours :-)

I plan to keep ALL of the current features free indefinitely.  The small ads on the site don't currently pay the server costs so I may consider adding some new features in the future for which I charge a subscription to help cover those costs and also my development time (and hey even a little on top would be nice but probably not realistic :-)  ).

Having said that, its not currently obvious to me that there would be enough demand for a "premium" version of Chess Tempo.  Whilst Chess Tempo does have some unique features, there are also several other sites with similar features , with more sites likely to appear in the future.  Faced with a number of reasonably good free alternatives I think any extra features (such as much larger problem history, greater control over the problem selection and extra statistics) might not get much interest.  Of course I'd be very happy to proved wrong :-) [ and if there is a pent up demand for this type of thing from users then I'd like to hear it :-) ]

So to restate, all the current features are intended to remain free.  Some new features in the future may have a subscription fee associated with them, but this will not impact any of the currently available features (and existing features would not be "crippled" to make the pay features more attractive).

I Hope this answers your question.

Regards,
Richard.
