Hello Richard,

With problem 63983, I found the right moves until 2.Bh6+
Then I tried 3.Qd8+ (the correct move) which gave me a fail, although I am quite sure my mouse didn't slip!
It's so for the 6 points, but from time to time (very very rarely ; user mouse slips are much more frequent), the move is correct but the program returns false.

I run WXP SP2 and Firefox 5.0, all with french settings, including Chess Tempo.

Regards,
David

Hi dvdbly,

As a gold member, you can see your problem mistakes on your stats page, you played 3.Qd7 here, instead of your intended 3.Qd8, so it looks like it is probably a mouse slip.  The most common cause of mouse slips (after accidentally letting your finger off the mouse button too early), is not realising that the drop target of the piece is your mouse pointer, instead of the center of the piece, so if you drag the mouse from the very corner of the piece it is possible that the mouse pointer will be in an adjacent square, while most of the piece is another square when you drop it. It is likely that this is what has happened in this case.  If you haven't done so already, I suggest you turn on the highlight drop square option in your preferences, as it will give you visible feedback on the square that you will be dropping the piece if you let go of it at any particular instance.

Regards,
Richard.

Thank you Richard,

I did as you suggested, and I am pretty sure your explanation depicts what actually happened.

Thank you very much.

I have been having with many puzzles but now it wont let me put my comment stating I got it wrong but I did the right move like the answer is. Puzzle 17941 is one of those that should be taken out for the fact is I got it right but the computer said I got it wrong even though my move was the same as the computer??? Angry as far as I can tell there is like maybe 20 puzzles so far that should be taken out.

Hi Elvisbluelight,

There is no issue with the problems, you are experiencing regular mouse slips. I've replied to many of your "this problem should be taken out" comments describing how you can avoid these mouse slips, but it seems you don't read replied to the problem's you've commented on (via the 'my comments' tab on the problems page).

Please read my reply dvdbly above, as you will probably find it helpful (given the regular nature of your problem, you may also need to buy a new mouse). Alternatively, you can stop trying to use drag and drop, and just use click-and-click instead which will likely avoid most of the problems you are seeing.

Regards,
Richard.
